Surgery Center
Andersen Eye Associates is proud to announce the opening of its state of the art Ambulatory Surgery Center. Opened in 2007, Andersen Eye physicians will be utilizing the Surgery Center for:
Premium Intra-Ocular Lenses
Our standard lens of choice for cataract surgery is the AMO Tecnis Intraocular lens (IOL). We have found it to be a solid performer. It is the first and only IOL that is approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administrationto improve functional vision in low-light situations, including driving at night. However, you will need to wear glasses with this implant. You can read more on this lens at www.tecnisiol.com.
Premium Intraocular Lenses
Until recently Medicare would not allow patients to pay the extra cost of new technology lenses. That rule has changed and now you have options. If your Andersen Eye surgeon can recommend a new technology lens to treat your cataracts, Medicare will cover the amount of the traditional lens and gives you the option to pay additional costs associated with the new technology lenses. Multifocal Intraocular Implants
When you have a traditional cataract surgery you lose the ability to focus on reading material. Your Andersen Eye surgeon can offer you an intraocular lens that will help correct your reading need. These exciting new lenses can give you the freedom and independence from eye glasses that you have longed for. The implants used by your Andersen Eye surgeon are:

- Alcon AcrySof IQ Restor - www.acrysofrestor.com
Within the category of multifocals there is a lens termed "accomodating" or focusing. Through out our lifetime our eyes "accomodate" or focus so we can see at near. As we age, we lose the ability to accomodate due to the lens in your eye hardening. Bausch & Lomb developed an accomodating lens that mimics the function of our natural lens.

Astigmatic (Toric) Intraocular Implants
In the past, have you been told that you could not wear contact lenses, and had to wear glasses, because of your astigmatism? Well, with new technology toric IOL's, your days of needing eye glasses may be over. Ask you Andersen Eye surgeon if this type of lens is for you.
